Who or what is Niku?
That’s me! Just a freak that fell in love with indies and is on a personal mission to fight for discoverability.
Tell me more about you!
Wow, thanks for the interest! My name is Nicole, born in 1994, Germany. I do not work in the gaming industry, so all my knowledge comes from Gaming being my biggest hyperfixation. I have a huge appreciation for the little details in games. Expect my blog to be more about vibe and atmosphere than technicalities.
Where are the pictures and videos from? And who made the mascot?
All the writing, screenshots and short clips are completely my work.
The only elements I don’t own are the official trailer I embed, the website theme and the art of our adorable mascot Freaky.
The website theme I use is called Terminal Blog by Adore Themes.
The artwork of Freaky is made by LittleOphis
I am a fan of this game. Will you cover it?
Ideally I’d cover every indie game on this planet, but to my detrement this is not possible.
I have a huge list of games I want to tackle and write about. You are welcome to reach out to me with a recommendation but I can’t make any promises.
I am a developer and would like you to check out my game.
Thank you for the trust! You can contact me here. If I didn’t already buy it or have it on my wishlist, I’d love to check it out. Can’t promise a full blogpost soon but I will try to give it a shoutout.
Are there games you will absolutely not cover?
I have a broad taste but will not cover games that use generative AI, stolen elements or hatespeech.
If I cover a game that falls under these criteria, I was not aware of it and will remove it.
I found an error or want something to be removed!
Please reach out to me if you see something wrong (grammar, content, data, etc.). Although I am quite confident in my english skills, there is always room for improvement.
If you are a dev and see something you’d like me to change, add or remove, I am happy to [chat about it].
What is the accessibilities tab in your posts?
I believe gaming is a passion that should be available for everyone. Their cognitive and physical conditions should not be treated as a hinderance.
A few beautiful communities are doing a great job at checking games for their accessibility but often times these focus on AAA games and the rare indie hits.
I want to contribute my part. Up front, I do not have education in this field. My knowledge is greatly self taught with my own experience intertwined. I am autistic and have Chronic Pain, that mainly takes form of Chronic Migraines. Therefore I profit highly from accessibility settings.
However, please be aware that the games on this blog are done by a small count of people. Thus integrating a lot of helpful features, is not always feasible.
Let’s appreciate the devs, that offer helpful settings and hope, this becomes further doable for others, as the resources grow.
I have a hard time with your blogsite. Can you please integrate this feature or tell me if the game has this specific feature?
Please, always share this kind of feedback with me! As mentioned in the previous tab, I am not a professional in this field. No struggle on my blog is intentional and I would love to make it as accessible as possible. Please share your feedback with me here and I will see what I can do.
I will gladly check if a game I covered has a specific element that I didn’t mention in my blogpost. Reach out to me and I will get back to you. Please know that I can only check it within my peripherals though.
